Suzanne Statland lived in the Kansas City area for most of her life and was a practicing psychotherapist for fifteen years prior to her death.  She received her bachelor's degree in English literature from Vassar College and master's degrees from Harvard University-Radcliffe College and the University of KansasMrs. Statland was involved in several Kansas City area historical, social and educational groups including the Friends of the UMKC Library (where she was a co-founder and past president), Historic Kansas City Foundation, Landmarks Commission, the Kansas City Arts Commission and others.

The collection includes papers from the UMKC Friends of the Library, Historic Kansas City Foundation, Kansas City Landmarks Commission, and Future Alternatives.  There are also items relating to human resources and relations, as well as various concerns involving the Kansas City area, such as parking and the environment. ca. 1950-1977.
