Native Sons of Greater Kansas City Archives (0590kc)

The Native Sons, a historical society dedicated to preserving the history of the Kansas City area, began actively collecting the Native Sons Archives (NSA) around 1940, but received the majority of its collections between 1950 and 1963. The Archives had offices at City Hall, and in 1965, an agreement was signed to move the collection to the Missouri Valley Room of the Kansas City Public Library where it remained until it transfer to WHMC-KC in 1990.

The collection contains a variety of materials including manuscripts, photographs, research notes, painting and artwork, and other items. The core of the collection is a series of scrapbooks arranged topically annotated with clippings, and notes compiled by James Anderson, historian for the Native Sons, and other members of the organization. Various collections have been given their own collection numbers but remain associated with the NSA. ca. 1920-1980.
