Ione Alexander (1892-1986) Papers (0450kc SHS)
Miss Ione Alexander was born in Texas and had lived in Kansas City since 1925. She was a sales clerk for Emery, Bird, Thayer for 25 years, retiring in 1966. Miss Alexander was an accomplished and published author and was a member and former president of the Kansas City Quill Club, and a member of the National League of American Pen Women, the Missouri Writer’s Guild, and the State Historical Society of Missouri. Ione Alexander died August 6, 1986 at the age of 94 years.
This collection includes idea notes and autobiographical stories, manuscripts of novels, plays, short stories, and poetry written by Miss Alexander. Also included are minutes and other documents relating to various organizations to which Miss Alexander belonged, such as the Quill Club, and correspondence with friends, family, and other writers. ca.1925 – ca. 1982.
