Helen Rowe Henze (1899-1973) Papers (0527kc)
Helen Rowe Henze worked in Kansas City, Missouri as an executive secretary and later as an assistant secretary of the company of Ash Grove Lime & Portland Cement Company for twenty-seven years, retiring in December 1961. She was educated in Kansas City at the Kansas City Junior College and the Sarachon-Hooley Secretarial School. She was born December 21, 1899. She published five books of poetry, had her poems published in many newspapers and magazines and participated in writing conferences and lectures about creative writing and poetry. She and several other Kansas City based women writers gathered for study and criticism forums to trade and review each other’s works.
These records contain clippings of reviews and of poems and articles written by Mrs. Henze, drafts and corrections of some of her poetry, manuscript copies of short stories written but not published and biographical material. ca. 1947-1970.
