Jerome Fedeli (1844-1902) Papers (0612kc)

One of the most active and respected fresco artists in the Midwest during the 19th century, Fedeli was born and trained in Italy. He was responsible for the decoration of many public buildings, both sacred and secular, and residences in St. Louis, Ft. Wayne, Indiana, and Kansas City, and surrounding communities. He was appointed Italian Vice Consul at Kansas City in 1885, and was decorated by the King of Italy in 1901 with the Chevalier of Honor in recognition of his long service.

The papers contain more than 200 presentation and preparation drawings which provides a unique insight into the colors, motifs, and style of the late Victorian era. Also included is a small amount of correspondence, clippings, photographs, and memorabilia. ca. 1875-1902.
