Caroline Isabelle Dougherty Campbell (1893-1982) Papers (0646kc)

Caroline Isabelle Dougherty Campbell was born in Denver, Colorado in 1893.  Her parents lived there twice for business ventures but always returned to their hometown of Independence, Missouri.  She attended St. Mary's Academy in Independence and was married in Independence to John William Campbell.

She became the mother of seven children.  Although primarily a fulltime wife and mother, she was active in several organizations, including the Women's Auxiliary of the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen (B of RT), and the Order of the Purple Heart, based on the military award won by her son, William Stanley Campbell, who was killed in 1945 in the Philippines in World War II.
