John A. Huffman (1932-1994) Architectural Records (0864kc)

John Huffman received a B.A. from Yale University in 1953 and then served active duty in Korea with the Marine Corps. After his return to the United States, he attended the Graduate Yale School of Architecture and Design from 1956-1958, after which he worked in New York City and New Haven, Connecticut. He returned to Kansas City in 1960, where he practiced architecture and taught at the Metropolitan Junior College and the Kansas City Art Institute. Huffman specialized in restoration of historic structures in Missouri, Virginia, and Georgia. He was a member of the National Trust for Historical Preservation and the Jackson County Historical Society. The JCHS Wornall House and 1859 Jail Museum and Marshal's Home were restored with the assistance of his firm.

The collection consists of records concerning the work of Huffman's architectural firm in Kansas City. There are drawings and job files for his various projects. There are large series of journals and magazines, as well as a large quantity of books, product catalogs, and samples of materials. 1960s-1990s.
