Board of Trade of Kansas City Records (KC0063)

In 1856, a "Board of Trade" organized in Kansas City, Missouri, to promote the commercial interests of the city. It operated informally until 1869, when it received its charter, and in 1876 incorporated under the name, Board of Trade of Kansas City, Missouri, Inc. The Board evolved from generally promoting commerce and transportation in the region to providing an organization for the trading of grain and other agricultural commodities.

The Records contain the operating papers of the Board, including the Articles of Incorporation, Constitution, Rules, Regulations; Minutes of the Board of Directors and the Open Board of Trade; Arbitration Cases; Financial Reports; and Annual Statistical Reports. General files include Legislation and Contact with the Legislature; the National Recovery Association; the Federal Farm Board; and Public Relations and News Releases. The Records of the Board's Transportation Department contains Investigation and Suspension Dockets (I&S); Interstate Commerce Commission (ICC) Dockets; and Tariffs. ca. 1873-ca. 1978.
