Hinton and Walker Records (KC212)

Little is known of the firm of Hinton and Walker. Because the bills of lading are all signed at Rocheport, Missouri, it is assumed the company was located in that town. One of the partners may have been George W. Walker Jr.

These records consist of 13 bills of lading dated between April 1855 and November 1856. They show shipments of various goods by steamboat with all but one made to J.B.S. Lemoine of St. Louis, Missouri. The remaining shipment was made to Waddell and Russell in Lexington, Missouri. The name of the boat, its master, the name of the receiver of the shipment, a description of the goods and the cost of freight are indicated on the form. 1855-1856
