Generic email settings for UMKC E-Mail
The generic settings you will need for your e-mail client are:
| IMAP4 server: |
imap4.exchange.umkc.edu , enable SSL, and use port 993. |

IMAP4 is preferred over
POP3 when the client permits. Just be careful that your client properly
removes email from the server when you delete it on the client. |

| POP3 server: |
pop3.exchange.umkc.edu , enable SSL, and use port 995. |
| |
|
| SMTP server: |
smtp.exchange.umkc.edu , enable SSL, and use port 587.

| |
You will need to
turn on SMTP authentication in your email client. |
| |
Set your SMTP port value to port 587 . This
alternate port is necessary to use UMKC SMTP from off-campus due to filtering
employed by Internet Providers such as SBC-DSL. This is also necessary to
send email using an @umkc.edu email address on the Internet. |
