Virtual server hosting in UMKC's private cloud provides a number of advantages over non-centralized physical or virtual hardware:

  • Each data center has:
    • Redundant air conditioning systems
    • Uninterruptible power supplies (UPS)
    • Backup power and diesel generators
    • Secure access, alarm system, card swipe, motion detection, video surveillance
    • Redundant/fastest network connections on campus
    • 24/7 monitoring of the entire virtual server platform
    • Fire suppression system (FM-200)

Virtual Server Hosting Plan/Fees

UMKC's virtual server hosting plan provides server hosting along with basic system administration and backups. The montly fee for this service is $75 per month. A $25.00 per hour fee is incurred for assistance beyond the initial provisioning and/or basic system administration duties. Standard Virtual Servers include:
  • 2 Central Processing Unit (CPU)
  • 2 GB of Memory
  • 1 Gigabit Ethernet Card
  • 1 Operating System (OS), either Windows or Linux
  • 200 GB of Disk space
  • Snapshots performed nightly (retained 7 days)
  • Multiple snapshots throughout the day (retained 24 hours)
  • Site-to-site replication of data
Additional A La Carte Services:
  • $3.00 per Month for each additional Central Processing Unit (CPU)
  • $3.00 per Month for each additional Gigabyte of Memory
  • $3.00 per Month for each additional Ethernet Card
  • $0.60 per Year for each additional Gigabyte of disk space
