Scope of the Collection: Archives of Independence Regional Health Center.

Description of Collection holdings: Archival materials of the Independence Regional Health Center (formerly Independence Sanitarium and Hospital) relate primarily to hospital history and to the nursing program established after World War II. IRHC is a 366-bed, full-service hospital offering comprehensive community services, including state-of-the-art medical imaging, open heart surgery, obstetrics, pediatrics, cancer care, a diabetes resource center, chemical dependency and psychiatric treatment programs, wellness education, business and industrial health programs and emergency services. Outpatient services include one-day surgery, sick child day care and a pain management center and community outreach services offering home health care, hospice, and adult day care.
