Patricia Youmans Wagner Papers (KC0037)

Patricia Youmans Wagner, a Professor of Sociology, Emerita at the University of the Pacific, Stockton, California (1981) earned a B.B.A. and M.A. from the University of Arkansas in 1946 and 1948 respectively.  In 1962 she earned a Ph.D. in General Education from the University of Kansas City.  While in the doctoral program at UKC, she was employed on the History of Kansas City Project.  Charged with researching the contributions of voluntary associations to Kansas City history, she prepared a series of working papers on the topic.  She later used some of this research in her doctoral dissertation.

This collection of papers contains a series of working papers Ms. Wagner prepared in the late 1950s and early 1960s regarding voluntary associational life in Kansas City, Missouri, in the period 1870 to the early years of the twentieth century.  The papers are documented, factual presentations of material gleaned from various local history sources.  ca. 1959-ca. 1962.
