The Grounds unit of Campus Facilities Management maintains green space on UMKC's 262 acres of land.  This includes flowerbeds, shrubs, trees and irrigation systems plus snow and ice removal on 12.3 miles of sidewalks, steps, handicap ramps, and bus stops.

Grass maintenance includes:

  • Fertilizing
  • Mowing
  • Aerating
  • Weeding
  • Landscaping
    Maintenance of shrubs and shrub/flower beds includes:
  • Trimming
  • Replacing plants
  • Development of new beds
  • Mulching
  • Weeding
    Tree Maintenance includes:
  • Picking up limbs
  • Pruning
  • Removal
  • Raking
    Irrigation System maintenance includes:
  • Sprinkler repair
  • Sprinkler operation
  • Winterization
  • Set-up

    The Grounds unit also keeps the campus clean by removing litter and cigarette butts.  Please help keep the campus clean by using trash receptacles and ash cans.
