Critical Success Factors and Goal

Responsible Resource Management
We will exercise the highest degree of integrity in carrying out our stewardship role in managing university assets and in executing our accountabilities to key stakeholders.
Our stakeholders area individuals and groups that have a vested interest in and a public trust relationship with UMKC. Stakeholders look to the University and to the Division to fulfill its mission in a responsive and accountable manner, while protecting and preserving public assets. Our stakeholders consist of the Board of Curators, federal and state agencies and legislators, alumni, trustees, suppliers, and the citizens of Missouri. Like customers, stakeholders have certain expectations that must be met as we conduct the business of the University. We are committed to meeting and exceeding the following expectations of our stakeholders.
Stewardship of Institutional Assets
Stakeholders expect assets (financial and physical) to be protected and preserved through appropriate financial and management control systems. Stakeholders also expect risk to be managed effectively.
Stewardship of Resources
Stakeholders expect resources to be expended to support and advance the mission of both the University and the Division. Stakeholders expect resources to be managed in a manner that ensures sustainability, flexibility, and equilibrium. This means having sufficient resources to support and advance the mission, the ability to respond effectively to unanticipated opportunities or challenges, and the discipline to operate within available resources (living within our means).
Stewardship of the Future
Stakeholders expect the preservation of the purchasing power of assets through prudent management of endowments. They expect reserves to be managed effectively to ensure the availability of capital for innovation and change. Stakeholders expect physical as well as financial assets to be replenished for the next generation of students and constituents.
Our commitment is to conduct our fiduciary responsibilities professionally, ethically, and responsibly. This commitment is made with full recognition
that we work under the watchful eye of the public trust.
