Department of Environmental Health and Safety


The Fire Safety Division Conducts periodic inspections throughout all University owned properties for fire and life safety issues under N.F.P.A. and Bocca Codes. This encompasses all fire suppression and detection systems and equipment. Responds to all fire and trouble alarms in University owned properties to determine if an emergency exists and evaluate the incident to determine what can be done to prevent future problems. Investigate all fires to determine cause and make recommendations on methods to prevent fires in the future. Prepare and conduct safety education classes for faculty, staff, and students. Perform inspections, testing, and maintenance on all fire alarm detection and suppression systems and equipment on University owned properties under N.F.P.A. Codes and Standards
