Business Services

Business Services is responsible for budget development, budget management and personnel management for the following sub-units: Real Estate, Mail/Addressing Services, Central Ticket Office and Workers Compensation/Risk Management. All departmental sub-units provide services to academic and non-academic departments on the Kansas City campus.

In addition, Business Services acts as a central campus processing point for most types of University contracts and agreements, including, but not limited to, affiliation agreements, consulting agreements, purchase teaching time agreements, performance and appearance contracts and licensing agreements. The Director of Business Services acts as liaison to the Office of the University General Counsel with respect to such agreements. Business Services is also involved in the negotiation of University leases of real property to and from outside entities and coordinates lease renewals and monthly rental payments for University leased properties. The Director of Business Services also is responsible for the negotiation of real property purchases and sales, working closely with the Office of the General Counsel and UM Management Services.
