Financial Accounting Financial accounts are concerned with classifying, measuring and recording the transactions of a business. At the end of a period (typically a year), financial statements are prepared to show the performance and position of the business.	Budget and Reporting The preparation of the University’s budget is the biggest key to its success. It forces management to set short term and long term goals that the entire institution must meet by working together as a team. The comparison of the budgeted operations with the actual results makes it possible to review management and the institution’s performance at all levels.
Human Resources and Payroll As a part of the division of Administration and Finance, the Human Resources team supports the University’s staff, faculty, and students. We provide recruiting solutions, answers to benefit and compensation questions, assist with job classifications, aid customers with employee-relation issues, help interpret system policies, and provide various training and developmental programs for continuous improvement.	Procurement As a part of the division of Administration and Finance, the Procurement team manages all major purchases within the University.
Business Services Business Services is responsible for budget development, budget management and personnel management. In addition, Business Services acts as a central campus processing point for most types of University contracts and agreements. Business Services is also involved in the negotiation of University leases of real property to and from outside entities and coordinates lease renewals and monthly rental payments for University leased properties.	Research Services The University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) is committed to becoming nationally recognized for its research. UMKC is a core member of the regional life sciences consortium and continues to construct new research laboratories, hire top quality faculty, identify, promote, and establish disease-defined centers of excellence, and enlarge our research infrastructure.
