How do “In State” or Resident Tuition rates apply?

If a dependent of a benefit eligible employee or dependent student does not meet the criteria to be eligible for the Educational Fee Reduction, this student may qualify for “in state” tuition by nature of the association to the employee.  The student typically must be a legal dependent of the employee, if the employee and spouse are filing taxes jointly. Advise the student to ask Cashier team about qualification for the Metro Rate or a Missouri Tax Payer Scholarship

If an undergraduate student is living in the metro area counties (Johnson, Wyandotte, Leavenworth, Miami county), then the student may qualify for a “Metro Rate”.  This typically applies to undergraduate student regardless of his/her association as an employee or a dependent.  Admissions office makes the designation.

The “Metro Rate” is not typically available to a graduate student however, he/she may qualify for Missouri Tax Payer Scholarship.
