Parking options
OAK STREET PARKING GARAGE IS CLOSED
WARNING: NO FREE PARKING – DAY OR NIGHT
- If you don’t have a permit, park in a metered lot. Tickets are issued to unpaid meters. One-day visitor hangtags are available for occasional parking needs. Contact the Parking Operations Office for more information.
- Always park between the lines.
- Only park in marked parking spaces.
- Posted parking signs, whether permanent or temporary, take precedence over painted curbs, pavement markings and designations shown on University maps.
Metered parking
- Meter fees are $1 per hour.
- ParkCards (debit cards) are available for $25.
- Meters must be paid at all times, even when a University permit is displayed.
- Pay-by-space metered areas
Metered areas are indicated in yellow on the campus maps.
Permit parking
Student parking permit sales will be limited. Do not wait to order, they will sell out!
If permits sell out, there will be a waiting list application on the Parking website. A lot count will be conducted after the second week of classes to determine if additional permits can be sold and those on the waiting list will be notified.
Students who live off-campus may purchase one of the following: Commuter Parking Permit, Evening Student Permit or Remote Lot Permit. Go to Student Permits page to apply.
Residential students who live in Oak Place apartments may purchase an Oak Place Permit, other residential students may purchase a Residential Permit. Go to Student Permits page to apply. Residential students may not purchase Commuter permits unless they have obtained a special Student Affairs Volker Campus Waiver.

Faculty and staff permit parking
Employee permit areas are located throughout both the Volker and Health Sciences campuses. Employee permit areas are indicated in red on the campus map. Additional employee permit information is available.
Disability permit parking
A UMKC disability parking permit allows an individual to park their vehicle in faculty/staff and student permit areas 24 hours per day. A state-issued disability plate or placard and a UMKC disability permit are required to use designated handicap spaces. A physician’s statement of need or proof that state-issued plate or placard belongs to the applicant is required. Additional permit information is available.
