Tips to avoid tickets and fines

  • For a complete list of parking rules, read the UMKC parking regulations or visit the Parking Operations office.
  • Permits are available on a single-semester or multi-semester basis.
  • If you don’t have a permit, park in a metered lot. Tickets are issued to unpaid meters. One-day visitor hangtags are available for occasional parking needs. Contact the Parking Operations office for more information.
  • Parking regulations are enforced during semester breaks.
  • Always park between the lines.
  • Only park in marked parking spaces.
  • Posted parking signs, whether permanent or temporary, take precedence over painted curbs, pavement markings and designations shown on University maps.
  • Hang tags are not transferable between individuals.
  • Permits must be displayed on the vehicle as directed.
  • The disappearance of a parking violation notice from a vehicle does not relieve the violator from responsibility.
  • Students and employees are responsible for their vehicles and all family vehicles when parked on campus.
  • You can pay or appeal a ticket within 10 business days of the issue date to avoid late charges.
  • Replacement permits are available if your permit is lost, stolen or destroyed. A $5 replacement fee is charged for the first lost, stolen or destroyed permit. A cost schedule for replacements is available in the Parking Operations office.
Violations should be paid or appealed within 10 business days from receipt of the violation.

Ticket Payments

A $5 late fee is added to fees not paid within 10 business days. Cash and check, and charge payments may be made in person, at the Cashier’s Office, located in the Administrative Center, room 112. Cash and check payments can be made by U.S. mail to this address, Cashier’s Office, 5115 Oak, Kansas City, MO 64110. The violation must be presented to ensure proper credit.
