Chemical Management Training

Description: This course provides information, policies, procedures on the safe handling of chemicals.

Accident and Incident Reporting

Description: This course is a review policies and procedures regarding accident and incident reporting and insurance coverage. Participants will learn how to report accidents and incidents, file claims, and obtain proof of coverage. Accident and incident issues include the following:

Vehicle accidents
Student or general public injuries or property damage
Theft or damage of University property

Radiation Employee Orientation

Description: This course is the first step towards full certification as a Radiation Worker (RAM) and covers UMKC site-specific policies and procedures for working with radioactive materials.

Radiation Safety Lab/Demonstration

Description: This course is the second step towards full certification as a Radiation Worker (RAM) and is an introduction/review of lab safety skills with DRS staff.

Radiation Worker Observation

Description: This course is the final step towards full certification as a Radiation Worker (RAM) and is a practical test of an ability to work safely with radiation in a laboratory.

Radiation Safety Awareness

Description: This course is part of EHS general safety training, or as an introduction to the job-specific training modules for ancillary staff.

Radiation Safety Refresher

Radiation Safety for Radiation Producing Devices (RPD)

Description: This course is an orientation to UMKC radiation safety policy and procedures for the RPD user, tailored to RPD source used.

Fire Safety and Extinguisher Use

Description: This class consists of a 10-15 minute presentation on different types of fires as well as the different types of fire extinguishers available at UMKC. After completing the orientation, participants will have the opportunity to practice basic fire suppression skills in the hands-on portion of the class. Each participant will use a live fire extinguisher in order to become familiar with the basic fire suppression equipment and techniques learned in the class.
