Here are seven recommended steps for freshmen looking to attend UMKC:

1.Explore UMKC degrees and take a look at a sample course of study
Take a look at the various degrees offered at UMKC and see a sample course of study via the Major Maps page.

2.Schedule a campus visit
Call the UMKC Welcome Center at 816-235-8652 (local) or 1-800-775-UMKC to set up your visit for a scheduled visit day, or to make an individual appointment. You can also make an appointment via the Welcome Center website.

3. Apply for admissions
Read the freshman admissions requirements. When ready, either complete the UMKC application online or mail in a printed copy.

4. Send us your transcripts and ACT scores
Send us your official high school transcript as well as college transcripts for any courses you may have taken for college credit. Use 2380 as the institution code when sending ACT results to UMKC

5. Apply for scholarships and financial aid
Visit the UMKC Financial Aid & Scholarship office's website to learn more about university-wide scholarships and to complete the FAFSA. Also, many academic units within the university have their own set of scholarships, so be sure to ask your academic advisor if there are scholarships that you are eligible for.

6. Apply for housing
If you are planning to live on campus, or even considering it, contact the Residential Life office as soon as you are admitted.

7. Attend new student orientation and get academic advising
Orientation occurs on several dates throughout the summer and between the fall and spring semester for transfer students. It allows students to gather basic survival info, learn about student organizations and services, and enroll in classes.
