Information on Graduate Professional Programs at UMKC

UMKC offers graduate professional programs through the Schools of Medicine, Pharmacy, Dentistry and Law. Please read below for some basic information on these programs, as well as relevant links to the admission process for each of these schools.

School of Medicine (M.D. Only Program) : While the UMKC School of Medicine is designed primarily for high school seniors who are entering college, a limited number of positions may become available each year for M.D.-only students.

These students enter the School and begin their curriculum in the second semester of Year 2 of the program. The application deadline for this program is Aug. 1 of the preceding year.

For M.D. Only program-specific requirements and deadlines, please visit the School of Medicine website.

If you are ready to apply: Please select from one of the following options

  1. Use the M.D. Only Program online application.  By applying online through this link you will automatically be sent all needed supplemental materials upon completion.

  2. Download a copy of the UMKC application and the MD Only supplemental application.  If you use this option, you will need to complete and mail in the UMKC application and MD Only supplemental application.  Please indicate on the UMKC application that your desired degree program is MD Only.

  3. Applications and supplemental forms for the M.D. Only application must be postmarked by August 1.

M.S. in Anesthesia: The School of Medicine offers a Master of Science in Anesthesia Program that educates students with a baccalaureate degree to become anesthesiologist assistants (AAs) eligible to sit for the Certification Exam offered by the National Commission for Certification of Anesthesiologist Assistants (NCCAA).

Please visit the M.S. in Anesthesia website to learn more about the program, deadlines and the application process

Pharmacy : The School of Pharmacy's PharmD program is open to students with degrees. Please visit their website for more information on the program, deadlines and additional details on the application process.

Dentistry : The UMKC School of Dentistry educates competent and caring oral health care providers through a curriculum that combines the best of the classroom and clinic.

If you are a college student with 90 or more hours of college credit or a college graduate, you may apply for admission to the D.D.S. program. Applicants are strongly encouraged to complete a baccalaureate degree prior to starting their dental education. Applicants interested in applying to the D.D.S. program should visit the School of Dentistry's website to learn more about the national application process used by the majority of dental schools in the United States.

If you are a current dental student or dentist looking to apply to a graduate dental certificate program (endodontics, orthodontics, periodontics, oral surgery, oral radiology, pediatrics, advanced education in general dentistry, etc.) you should visit the School of Dentistry’s Advanced Education Programs page. The UMKC online application may be completed for the graduate dental certificate program, but all applicants are required to additionally mail in the supplemental application materials as requested.

Specific questions regarding admissions to the UMKC School of Dentistry should be addressed to the Office of Student Programs at 816-235-2080.

Law : The admissions process for UMKC's School of Law is both highly competitive and selective, due in large part to the limited number of seats available to an entering class.

To learn more about the requirements for admission, application deadlines and the application process, please visit the University of Missouri-Kansas City's Law School website.
