Recent Activities
SPRING LUNCHEON:
On April 5, 2008, nearly 90 UMKCRA members attended the annual Spring Luncheon and Business Meeting in Pierson Hall. During the reception preceding the luncheon, we were entertained by the guitarist, Cynthia Egger. Bouquets of spring flowers appeared on each table that seemed so real, folks were surprised when they discovered they were not. These flowers were courtesy of UMKCRA Board Member Dorothy Powell and one of her good friends. The annual election of officers was held and the President's gavel was passed from former President Leo Sweeney to the current President Dale Neuman.
HOLIDAY LUNCHEON:
On December 2, 2006, nearly 100 UMKCRA members attended the annual Holiday Luncheon and Business Meeting in Pierson Hall. Wine and cheese were served at a reception preceding the meeting, and we were entertained by a jazz sextet from the Conservatory. With Holiday centerpieces on each table, the atmosphere was quite festive. A short business meeting was held to vote on two changes to the UMKCRA Constitution and Bylaws.

ICE CREAM SOCIAL:
On September 24, 2006, 40 to 50 UMKCRA members gathered at the Old Playhouse patio area on the Volker Campus on a great sunny but cool autumn afternoon. A variety of ice creams and toppings provided creative sundae builders with more than enough to display their talents. We had to be quick builders as we competed with a swarm of honey bees that appeared and also enjoyed the goodies. Entertainment was provided by a brass ensemble from the Conservatory, courtesy of their community service fund. A great time was had by all.
