How to Implement the VSI Program
at your high school
As educators, you are trying to prepare your students for the future which may include higher education. Many high schools now offer to their students the ability to gain college credit as well as complete their high school courses by implementing dual-credit programs offered through colleges and/or universities. UMKC can be your partner in this endeavor by offering a variety of courses depending on your staffing situation.
VSI courses are video-based, distance education courses that provide instruction and evaluation by UMKC faculty. With training and support, the high school teacher plays the role of a facilitator by checking for understanding, preparing students for exams, and mediating the exams. Offering a rigorous college curriculum with the flexibility of a high school timeline, VSI courses meets the needs of many high schools who cannot staff teachers with masters or afford expensive video conferencing equipment.
If you think VSI might be right for you, please read more about the VSI Program in our brochure and navigate this site. Please contact our office at 816-235-1178 or email us at shobec@umkc.edu if you have any additional questions.
