George Gurley is the former book editor for The Kansas City Star, a former columnist and prize-winning playwright. Gurley's poems have appeared widely. His play, Cures, won the Missouri Arts Council Playwriting Contest in 1978. Drawings in Fugues in the Plumbing are by Charles Barsotti, a cartoonist for The New Yorker.
