Everything affects a brand, its identity and how it is viewed by the world. Everything we do makes an impression, and every impression we make changes the way people think about UMKC. This is why effectively managing the brand's identity through verbal, visual and other components is so vital to the University's marketplace position. By consistently managing various levels of identity throughout all communications pieces, we develop a central focused image and attitude associated with the University.
This web site is a tool to help you in your work. This guide offers options that not only help you convey your message, but also give the UMKC brand more awareness in the marketplace. While standards such as these cannot possibly address every design situation that may arise, they do establish an overall groundwork for design execution and strategy.
Help for Implementing the Brand
UMKC doesn't expect you to know all the answers to implementing the brand, yet it is essential to applying brand look and feel in both small- and large-scale publications. University Communications, along with the Office of Educational Resources at the School of Medicine and the Office of Biomedical Communications at the School of Dentistry, can guide you in policy, uses and implementation.
The UMKC brand system is a tiered system, designed to provide flexibility for the University while maintaining certain levels of consistency in all communications materials. Each tier has specific minimum expectations regarding logo use, brand elements, colors and style standards.
