The UMKC Brand: Tier 1
gradbar

The following minimal branding elements must be used in University-based materials.

UMKC Logo
The UMKC logo should always appear on materials. If the UMKC logo is not used on the cover or front page of the piece (see "UMKC on the Cover"), it should be used as a "signature" element on the back cover or end page. The logo should always be used as part of the mailing panel of materials.

UMKC on the Cover
The cover or front page of any University-based materials should feature UMKC in one of the following ways:

1. The letters "UMKC" appear prominently on the cover in Helvetica Neu Bold Condensed.
2. The UMKC logo appears on the front cover.

Design Elements on the Cover
At least 20% of the cover or main page of University-based materials should incorporate some form of design element based from the logo flame. Materials are welcome to incorporate this design throughout the piece to further enforce the brand. For more information on using the flame to create design, see the Design Elements section of this guide.

Color Usage
At least 80% of the chosen ink colors (not including photography) on the covers of full-color University-based materials should be a combination of blue and gold from the primary color palette. These colors should also be the primary colors used in the entire piece.

Typefaces
All body copy should use one of the University primary typefaces as described in this guide. It is also preferred, when possible, that University-based materials use these typefaces in headlines.
