UMKC Brand Fonts

Currently, the University has not made provisions for UMKC Brand fonts that you can download and use.

The official UMKC Brand fonts are “Neue Helvetica” and “Goudy.” The fonts are to be used whenever possible. In many cases, UMKC computers will either have these fonts available or have installed fonts that are close in style to UMKC Brand fonts.

If you do not have the UMKC brand fonts, you may substitute other versions of "Helvetica" for Neue Helvetica and a "Times" font for Goudy.

Purchasing Brand Fonts
There are many web sites where fonts can be purchased and downloaded. Included below are a two web sites that have the UMKC brand fonts “Helvetica Neue” and “Goudy.” We recommend the Open Typeface versions, which are intended to work on both Mac and Windows platforms. Prices and licensing information may vary.

Often, specific fonts come with a "user license" when they are purchased, and the purchase specifications indicate how many the number of computers that can have the font installed.

Fonts and Licensing
All communications units at UMKC, as well as entities and personnel whose assignments include the supervision of communications materials, to purchase and use the UMKC Brand fonts.

Remember, UMKC abides by intellectual property copyright laws; you are responsible for ensuring you install fonts only on the number of computers licensed by the type selections you have decided to purchase.

If you cannot buy UMKC brand fonts, your next option would be to use font selections that approximate the UMKC brand fonts. “Times” or “Times New Roman” often is the most convenient choice in place of Goudy. Many “Helvetica” fonts could be used in place of “Helvetica Neue.”
