  The Assess for Success program helps students with academic performance by providing a cost-effective assessment service targeted to individual needs.  The program is designed for individuals who may be experiencing difficulty due to study skills, unique learning styles, test anxiety, learning disabilities, or attention and focus issues.

With a wide range of assessment tools (determined on a case-by-case basis), our goal is to provide an assessment process that is individualized and contributes to positive classroom outcomes. The objective is to help each individual maximize their learning potential through scholastic achievement.
  Next Steps
The process starts with an intake appointment consisting of an information-gathering interview. Suggestions and feedback will be provided following your meeting.  The information will be further reviewed by our professional staff, who will recommend a course of action which may include a test battery, supplemental interviews, consultations, referrals and a report.

The process is designed around your specific needs, with the goal of improving your academic performance. You will receive feedback and suggestions throughout the process. You can also benefit from referrals to other UMKC services that support student learning.

 
  Cost
Costs for assessment services depend upon the needs and requests of the individual.  Traditionally, UMKC students have been referred to community psychologists for academic assessments, where related fees can reach several thousand dollars.

Assess for Success is designed to reduce those costs and address the specific assessment needs of each person. For students, there is no fee for the initial consultation and feedback. After that, student fees* range from $50-$750, depending on the type and complexity of the assessment provided. Services are available to non-UMKC students for a higher fee. Information on payment options for students is available upon request.

*Higher costs tend to be associated with learning disability and attention disorder evaluations that may require a formal diagnosis and suggested academic accommodations and recommendations, as mandated by Federal Law.
