Bill started in Student Health & Wellness in January 2007 after spending the last six and a half years as a health educator at the University of Kansas in Lawrence, KS. He is very excited to be at UMKC and to begin a coordinated effort to make health promotion a key aspect of student life. His goal is for all students to remain healthy and to make positive choices in order for them to achieve academic success.
Bill is currently a Community Representative, Kansas City Comprehensive HIV Prevention & Care Planning Council and
Member-At-Large, American College Health Association's Health Promotion Section
Bill’s journey into health education began while still attending Washburn University where he graduated in August 2000 with a Bachelor of Social Work. While a student he worked as a Crisis Case Manager and Long-term Case Manager at Shawnee Community Mental Health Center (now Valeo Behavioral Health Care) in Topeka, KS. He also worked for a short time as a Case Manager and Health Educator at the Topeka AIDS Project before accepting the Health Educator position at KU. He completed his Master of Science in Management from Baker University in May 2003.
Bill has served in the United States Army and United States Army Reserve. He is a veteran of Operation Desert Shield and Storm during the Gulf War of 1991 and is a Bronze Star recipient. |
