Commencement is a time for excitement and celebration. In order to ensure a seamless and memorable ceremony, we ask your assistance in adhering to the information provided.
Regalia may be purchased at the UMKC Bookstore. The academic dress for your specific degree must be purchased, which includes cap, gown, tassel, etc. (and hood for graduate students).
Parking available in the following lots:
Education Bldg., 52nd and Holmes, Grant Hall, 53rd and Cherry, and 50th and Cherry Street.
Handicapped accessible parking (will need proper handicapped sticker): Student Success Center, 50th and Rockhill Rd.
For any special seating for you or your family, contact Ms. Todd at email@example.com . When you RSVP for the ceremony, you should also indicate that you need special seating.
**Bring only your regalia; the security of other possessions in Pierson Auditorium will not be guaranteed.
Robing and Schedule
12:00 pm - Robing and pick up announcing cards in Pierson Auditorium (located inside the Atterbury Student Success Center)
1:00 pm - Process into Swinney Recreation Center and start of ceremony
Name cards should be picked up prior to the ceremony starting at 12:00 pm on the day of the ceremony in Pierson Auditorium. The announcement card will have your name and your degree. In the upper right hand corner of the announcement card, there will be a letter and a number. The letter and number will tell you where you need to stand in the line. There will be an overhead projector that will show you where your corresponding letter and number is in the line. There will be staff who can answer any questions that you may have. Don’t hesitate to ask them if you don’t know where you should be in-line.
If your name card is marked “with Latin Honors” indicating you are graduating with “Summa, Magna, or Cum Laude”, please pick up your medallion at the Information Table. The medallion is yours to keep.
