SBS Commencement

Saturday, May 16 – 1:00 pm

White Recital Hall

(inside the Performing Arts Center)



All UMKC Commencement ceremonies will be available live, online, at the time of the ceremony. Friends and family can remain at home and watch as you walk across the stage and are recognized for your achievements.



Guest limit: 5-7. Due to limited seating in White Recital Hall students may bring 5-7 guests with them to the ceremony. Please RSVP at the Commencement site. No tickets are required, but it is important that candidates honor our request for limiting the number of guests. Please contact Lauren ( if you have any questions.



Please notify the Commencement coordinator as soon as possible if your guests have special needs, such as wheelchair or handicapped seating.



Undergraduates and MA/MS candidates: Purchase cap and gown at the University Bookstore. See Bookstore website for information regarding GRAD FAIR.

PhD candidates: Please contact Lauren regarding regalia.

  1. All candidates must arrive at the Performing Arts Center NO LATER THAN 12:15 p.m., dressed in cap and gown. Guests will be directed to White Recital Hall, which will open at 12:00 noon. Candidates should go directly to room 326, which is located down the hallway to the right of White Recital Hall.
  2. In room 326, you will pick up a name card and find your place in line behind the appropriate sign based upon degree group (BA/BS, MA/MS, and PhD). Leave all personal items with family members in WRH. Candidates should not carry any items during processional.
  3. At this time you will receive instructions on how to walk, where to sit in White Recital Hall, and how to walk across the stage for the reading of names.                

Procession begins at 12:55 p.m. sharp into White Recital Hall. Commencement ceremony begins at 1:00 p.m.


Beginning Monday, June 15, diplomas and transcripts with degrees posted will be available for pick-up in the Registration & Records office for students who do not have a transcript hold. A transcript hold will prevent a student from receiving an official transcript as well as their diploma. On Monday, June 29, any
