Friday, December 13th, 2013 at 5:00 p.m. in the Swinney Recreation Center

Please RSVP at the Commencement website. No tickets are required, but it is important that you register the number of guests you plan to bring to the ceremony.

If you are a double major or double degree, you may participate in multiple ceremonies.

Please notify the Commencement coordinator as soon as possible if your guests have special needs, such as wheelchair or handicapped seating. A limited number of special seating passes are available prior to the ceremony.

BS/BA and MA/MS candidates must purchase cap and gown at the University Bookstore.

Students can purchase regalia at any time, but please take advantage of regalia discounts during Grad Fair on Tuesday, Oct. 8 (10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.), and Wednesday, October 9 (8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.) Professional photographers and other vendors also offer discounts at Grad Fair.

During the first part of the ceremony the tassel is worn on the right side. When degrees are conferred you will move it to the left side. Women wear caps throughout the ceremony. Men remove their caps during the National Anthem.

PhD candidates must contact the SBS Commencement coordinator regarding regalia.

Please see Commencement site for updated parking information.

  1. Doors to Swinney will be open at approximately 4:00 p.m. for guests.
  2. All candidates must arrive NO LATER THAN 4:15 p.m., dressed in cap and gown. Go directly to Pierson Auditorium in the Student Success Center. Leave all personal items with family members. Candidates should not carry any items during processional.

On January 13, diplomas and transcripts with degrees posted will be available for pick-up in the Registration & Records office for students who do not have a transcript hold. A transcript hold will prevent a student from receiving an official transcript as well as their diploma.

On January 27, diplomas not picked up will be mailed to the students who do not have a transcript hold.

Students with anticipated Latin Honors will be notified by the SBS Commencement coordinator as soon as the list is available. Medals will be available at the name card table on the day of the ceremony.
