RSVP:

Please RSVP at the Commencement website. No tickets are required, but it is important that you register the number of guests you plan to bring to the ceremony.

 

SPECIAL ARRANGEMENTS:

If you anticipate the need for special arrangements for a guest of yours, such as wheelchair seating or assistance for the hearing impaired, please note this on the RSVP website or contact your Commencement Admin; Chrystal Headd, headdc@umkc.edu

Special arrangements must be made ahead of time. All pertinent information needs to be submitted by May 16th.

 

REGALIA

Candidates must purchase cap and gown at the University Bookstore no later than Friday, April 11th close of business.

Regalia etiquette: During the first part of the ceremony the tassel is worn on the right side. When degrees are conferred you will move tassel to the left side. Women wear caps throughout the ceremony. Men remove their caps during the National Anthem. Hoods are draped over the right arm. PARKING

There are a variety of parking options available near the Music Hall/Municipal Auditorium. The majority of parking options are metered. For handicap parking we suggest using the garage north of Municipal. This is labeled “Barney Allis Plaza” on the map.

 

COMMENCEMENT SCHEDULE

  1. Doors will open one (1) hour prior to ceremony. Guests who arrive earlier than 5:00PM will have the option to wait outside or in the small atrium; seating is not available in either of these areas.
  2. All candidates must arrive NO LATER THAN 5:15 p.m., dressed in cap, gown and carrying hood (if applicable). Leave all personal items with family members. Candidates should not carry any items during processional. There will not be a secure area to leave personal items.

 

DIPLOMAS & TRANSCRIPTS 

Students should check their Pathway prior to April 1 to ensure that they have no holds on their accounts. Any holds should be resolved and removed, as they may delay or hold the student’s diploma or transcript.

On June 16, diplomas and transcripts with degrees posted will be available for pick-up in the Registration & Records office for students who do not have a transcript hold. A transcript hold will prevent a student from receiving an official transcript as well as their diploma.

On June 30, diplomas not picked up will be mailed to the students who do not have a transcript hold.

 

LATIN HONORS

Students with anticipated Latin Honors will be notified by the School of Medicine Commencement coordinator as soon as the list is available. Medals will be available at the name card table on the day of the ceremony.
