UMKC Counseling Center

Allison Roodman, Ph.D.

Dr. Roodman received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Virginia Tech in 2000 and has been a licensed psychologist in Missouri since 2001. She coordinates some of the technology used by the center and is the coordinator of the groups program.  She believes in the strength of group psychotherapy to help clients learn about themselves in relationship to others and make significant changes in their lives. She describes her theoretical orientation as eclectic, but draws heavily from cognitive behavioral, interpersonal process and mindfulness practice.  As a generalist, Dr. Roodman enjoys working with diverse clients with a variety of concerns including depression, anxiety, eating issues, trauma, performance anxiety, and the developmental issues that students often face in pursuing their undergraduate or graduate degrees.  She enjoys supervising interns and practicum students and describes her approach as collaborative.
