Student Organizations
- AIAS (American Institute of Architecture Students) is a national organization for students studying architecture and related fields. Every year students attend national and regional AIAS meetings around the country.
- Students routinely participate in local professional organizations such as YAF (Young Architects Forum),
AIA / KC (American Institute of Architects), WID (Women in Design) and the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art lecture series.
- SEARCH (Students Engaged in Artistic and Academic Research) supports undergraduate research at UMKC. Architectural studies students have received numerous awards at the annual spring symposium.

Admission Requirements
- Admission into the department is selective and competitive. Students are considered on the basis of academic performance and space availability.
- Freshmen students need to score 23 or higher on the ACT, and have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. Transfer students may enter with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
