Admission requirements

  • All students interested obtaining a degree in Computer Science must earn an ACT score of 25 in Math and a composite ACT score of 24.
  • Transfer students must have a 2.0 grade point average (GPA) at each institution and a final term GPA of 2.0.
  • Students who do not meet the above criteria may petition for admission.

  • The School of Computing and Engineering's (SCE) undergraduate degrees offer a sound preparation both in the fundamentals of computer science and six concentration areas.
  • Graduate study addresses the theory, design and application levels of communications software, hardware, networks and engineering.

Fast facts

  • The Fast Track program offers students an opportunity to complete a Bachelor of Science degree in computer science in four years and the master's degree the fifth year. 
  • The explosive use of computers in commerce and industry has put the computer science profession at the forefront of occupational demand.
  • SCE offers the only ABET-accredited BSCS degree in the Kansas City area.

  • Many of our adjunct faculty work as professional engineers in the area and provide real-life expertise to our students.
  • Faculty provide many different research opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students in several areas, including computer networs, database management, bioinformatics and communications, to name a few.
