Real World Experience
- Studying in a metropolitan area has its advantages, such as exposure to world-class museums, dance companies, theaters and opportunities in dance. UMKC's campus is located in the heart of Kansas City and within walking distance of one of the most distinguished museums in the nation, the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art. The Conservatory also has liaisons with dance companies and arts organizations which allow students to have professional experiences as apprentices and interns.
- The Dance Division curriculum provides the artistic and professional training for a career in dance and a range of dance and academic courses for a well rounded educational experience.
Careers
- You'll find the Conservatory graduates worldwide in ballet and modern dance companies, in Broadway productions and musical theater companies.
- They teach dance from grade school to college, and work as dance professionals and dance therapists around the world.

Admission Requirements
- Students must have previous training in ballet and/or modern dance.
- Students will be admitted subject to a successful 10- minute audition.
- New students must meet the general requirements for admission to the University.
- All undergraduate transfer students must be admitted to the University and the Conservatory, present complete official transcripts, audition and take a theory examination for validation of theory level.

- A senior recital is required. The recital must consist of two different dance forms studied in the four years of coursework, including one solo and one group work choreographed by the student. Further senior recital requirements are contained in the Conservatory dance student handbook.

- The Conservatory Dance Faculty are nationally renowned as both artists and teachers.
- The faculty have performed with such illustrious dance companies such as Alvin Ailey, Philadanco, San Francisco Ballet, Dayton Contemporary and the Milwaukee Ballet and bring this professional experience to the students.
