There are no admission requirements beyond the regular admission requirements for the university.

Fast facts

  • For students who have other full-time commitments at work or home, it is possible to earn this degree by attending evening and weekend courses through UMKC’s Program for Adult College Education (PACE),
  • Research shows that people with a liberal arts education move from entry-level jobs into management positions at a higher rate than people with business, technical or vocational backgrounds, partly because they are able to learn different things very quickly.
  • The B.L.A. is perfect for students who would like to get a diversified degree and then pursue graduate work or law school before seeking full-time employment.


The faculty for the B.L.A. come from a broad range of Arts and Sciences disciplines and departments, including those from humanities, natural sciences and social sciences.
