Admission requirements

  • Freshmen and transfer students may apply to UMKC as pre-education majors and are admitted based on general university requirements.
  • Candidates for admission to the School of Education are required to complete the majority of their general education and pre-education coursework with a 2.75 cumulative grade point average (GPA) at the time of application (the priority deadline is March 1 of each year for admission the following fall).
  • Applicants who have graduated from high school within five years of admission to teacher education program must also submit a score for either the ACT or SAT exam.
  • A passing score on all sections of the College Basic Academic Subjects Examination (C-BASE) is required of all students.
