Major Courses
All B.A. or B.S. mathematics majors must take:- Calculus I, II, and III
- Linear Algebra
- Advanced Analysis I
- Modern Algebra or Linear Algebra II, plus
- At least 12 more credit hours at the 300 or 400 level
Other Programs Available
- Minor in mathematics
- Master's degree with concentrations in mathematics or statistics
- Interdisciplinary Ph.D.
Faculty
- The department’s faculty are all active researchers in fields including algebra, real analysis, logic, dynamical systems, statistics, biostatistics, spatio-temporal data modeling, numerical analysis and mathematical finance.
- The department collaborates with UMKC’s School of Computing and Engineering, School of Biological Sciences, School of Medicine, School of Education and the Stowers Institute for Medical Research.
- Faculty members have received prestigious NSF grants and other national research support and have been published in more than 50 mathematics, statistics, engineering and medical journals.
- Two faculty members have received the Dean’s Award for
Outstanding Teaching. - The department is active in the UMKC Institute for Urban Education, where the faculty is involved with training a new cadre of urban mathematics teachers for the 21st century.
