About
the UMKC
School of Dentistry
The
UMKC School of Dentistry is part of the University
of Missouri-Kansas City which, in turn, is one of four
campuses in the publicly funded University of Missouri System.
The other universities are located in Rolla, St. Louis and
Columbia.
The School of Dentistry is located
a few miles north of the UMKC main campus in a historic part
of Kansas City known as Hospital Hill. The school's
health-care neighbors include the UMKC Schools of Medicine, Pharmacy and
Nursing, Children's Mercy Hospital, Truman Medical Center and
several other private and public health-care facilities. Our
students are part of a vital community of scholars learning,
researching and practicing in virtually every area of the health
sciences.
The UMKC
School of Dentistry can trace its lineage to more than a century
ago when the Kansas City Dental College was founded in 1881.
While its name has changed, the school's tradition of excellence
has continued for more than 115 years.
The educational
experiences available to dental, dental hygiene, advanced
education and graduate students are rich and varied. The school's
first-rate faculty comprises scholars, scientists and specialists,
each dedicated to providing a quality education that is both
comprehensive and individualized.
The school's
administrative, instructional and clinical facilities are
impressive as well.
