Services for Students with Disabilities

About us

The Office of Services for Students with Disabilities' mission is to educate and support the UMKC community to understand the unique challenges, myths and stereotypes faced by people with disabilities; recognize the unique contributions that people with disabilities make to society; and accept and engage people with disabilities in the daily flow of life. We are also here to provide reasonable accommodations to help students demonstrate their abilities, knowledge and skills.

Our office’s efforts support the Division of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management’s mission of enriching the lives of students and others through quality educational services and purposeful co-curricular programming.

UMKC is committed to being a disability-aware campus in which faculty, staff and students understand the unique challenges, myths and stereotypes faced by people with disabilities; recognize the unique contributions that people with disabilities make to society; and, accept and engage people with disabilities in the daily flow of life.

The University is also committed to being a welcoming and supportive campus in which students with disabilities feel that they are engaged in the campus community, that UMKC is their University and that it is responsive to their unique needs. We look forward to working with you.
