Microsoft Outlook Users
The UMKC VPN Client is no longer required for email access. You will only need the
UMKC VPN Client if you need to access network file shares or Remote
Desktop. Outlook 2010 is the preferred email client. (Not to be confused with Outlook Express).
Outlook is installed on almost all campus computers, and can be purchased for home use.
NEW! Exchange 2010 Update
Beginning on December
28th, the email system for faculty and staff will be
upgraded to Exchange 2010. Once
this happens you might lose the ability to connect to Exchange from certain mobile devices. If this happens please change the
e2k.exchange.umkc.edu server name to
webmail.umkc.edu. This will happen automatically for most mobile devices.
You may also need to reconfigure your email clients with
new settings, which are given below.

server when you delete it on the client |

POP3 Server |
pop.umkc.edu , enable SSL, and use port 995. |

Set your SMTP port value to port 587 . This alternate port is
necessary to use UMKC SMTP from off-campus due to filtering employed
by Internet Providers such as SBC-DSL. This is also necessary to
send email using an @umkc.edu email address on the Internet. |
