Microsoft Outlook can be purchased as a standalone product or as part of the Microsoft Office productivity suite. Special academic pricing is available from the UMKC Bookstore. If your version of Outlook is not listed below, please refer to instructions for unsupported versions of Outlook.
Outlook 2010 & 2007 (Windows) At Home
- Install Outlook 2010/2007 using the default settings
- Restart your computer, if neccessary, and connect to the Internet
- Launch Outlook 2010 from the start menu
- Click next
- Select Yes and click next
- Select Manually configure server settings and click next
- Select Microsoft Exchange and click next
- Next to Server, type outlook.umsystem.edu
- Check the box to Use Cached Exchange Mode
- Next to User Name, type your SSO username
- Click More Settings
- Click on the Connection tab
- Check the box to Connect to Microsoft Exchange using HTTP
- Click Exchange Proxy Settings
- Next to https://, type webmail.umkc.edu
- Check the box to Connect using SSL only
- Check the box next to On fast networks...
- Check the box next to On slow networks...
- Click OK
- Click OK again
- Click Check Name
- Enter your email address (SSO@umkc.edu)
- Enter your SSO Password
- Click OK
- Click Next
- Click Finish
Outlook 2011 (Mac) At Home
- Open Outlook
- Click on the Outlook menu
- Click Preferences
- Click Accounts
- Click Exchange Account
- Next to e-mail address, enter your email address (SSO@umkc.edu)
- Next to user name, enter your SSO username (umkc-users\SSO)
- Next to password, type your SSO password
- Uncheck the box to configure automatically
- Next to server, type webmail.umkc.edu
- Click Add Account
- Click Advanced
- Next to directory service server, type ldap.exchange.umkc.edu
- Click OK
- Close the accounts window
- If prompted, check the box to always use my response for this server
- Click Allow
