Welcome to the University of Missouri-Kansas City's Family Weekend 2013! This is a wonderful opportunity to connect with your student, experience UMKC campus life, and explore the Kansas City community. No formal agenda is set for Family Weekend, but there are events occurring both on and off campus that suit a variety of family interests. Enjoy a great weekend at UMKC!

Friday, September 20

Family Weekend Check-In

4 - 7 p.m.
Student Union, Office of Student Involvement (room 320)
Stop by with questions or to pick up your Family Weekend t-shirt (free with registration).


UMKC Roos Women's Soccer

7 p.m.
Stanley H. Durwood Soccer Stadium and Recreational Field
Cheer on the women's soccer team as they play New Mexico State! Purchase tickets for $5 for general admission and $7 for reserved seating.


Wylliams/Henry Contemporary Dance Company

8 p.m.
UMKC Conservatory of Music and Dance
The Conservatory's artist-in-residence performs. Go to www.wylliams-henry.org for more details and ticket information.


Royals Game (Futures Night

7:10 p.m.
Kauffman Stadium, Kansas City, MO
Come watch the Royals play the Texas Rangers! Select Royals minor league award winners will be on-hand during the game and will hold an autograph session for fans pre-game, from 5:30 - 6:15 p.m., inside the ballpark next to Gate A in left field. Check out more details about the Royals.


82nd Annual Plaza Art Fair

5 - 10 p.m.
Country Club Plaza, Kansas City, MO
Each autumn, the streets of the Country Club Plaza are transformed into a beautiful outdoor art gallery. Artists from across the country will come together to display their fabulous artwork and attract countless art enthusiasts. A nationally-recognized event, the Plaza Art Fair features:

  • 240 artists
  • 25 Plaza restaurants
  • Three live music stages
  • Kids art workshop
  • Kemper Street Museum
  • Experience ArtsKC

Blues Traveler's Free Concert

Missouri Mavericks Fan Fest

11 a.m.
Independence Events Center, 19100 E Valley View Parkway, Independence, MO 64055
The Mavericks will make special announcements throughout the day regarding the fan experience at Mavericks games. Fans will have the opportunity to participate in "Q and A" sessions with the Mavericks' staff, coaches and players at the event. Noon - 2 p.m.

Meet to have a guided walking tour of the UMKC Volker campus. Learn about the history of the campus and see where your students spend their days.


Dinner at the Dining Hall

4:30 - 7 p.m.
UMKC Dining Hall
Kick off your evening with a delicious meal. Student swipes accepted. Family members pay $8 upon entry.


Royals Game - Fan Appreciation Night (Royals Blanket Giveaway)

6:05 p.m.
Kauffman Stadium, Kansas City, MO
Come watch the Royals play the Texas Rangers! The first 10,000 fans will receive a Royals Blanket Giveaway. Visit the Royals website for more information.


UMKC Roos Men's Soccer - Buck Night

7 p.m.
Stanley H. Durwood Soccer Stadium and Recreational Field
Show your Roo spirit and help the men's soccer team take on Incarnate Word! Purchase tickets for $5 for general admission and $7 for reserved seating.


Sunday, September 22

Royals Game — Family FunDay Sunday and Sprint Fun Run

Kauffman Stadium, Kansas City, MO
