The mission of LGBTQIA Programs and Services is to promote visibility of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community at UMKC, to celebrate and honor the history, culture and achievement of LGBTQI people, to provide a voice for the LGBTQI community at UMKC, and to actively promote an inclusive campus culture as an integral part of the University. Safe Space Training Through this established training program, UMKC enables participants to live the core values of diversity, inclusiveness and respect. The program offers a solid curriculum where a qualified trainer will visit to discuss awareness about LGBTQIA issues.
LGBTQI History Month October is filled with programming and is aimed at raising awareness of the contributions of LGBTQIA people. One of the most essential things the Initiative has to offer is our extensive supply of Resources, specially targeted for LGBTQIA individuals and their allies. Whether you need reading material for a research project, a web-site address for a local community organization, a phone number for a national LGBTQIA advocacy group, or just want to join a group with other like-minded students, this is the place to be.
