The UMKC Police Department strives to make UMKC a safe and desirable place to live and study. Officers will be glad to assist anyone in any manner when their services are needed. The department is open 24 hours, seven days a week and encourages the reporting of all accidents, thefts, vandalism or other offenses as soon as possible. Direct-line telephones are available for emergency use in campus elevators and at outdoor locations designated by special blue lights. Please report any suspicious activity to the police. Your UMKC Police Department has an active Crime Prevention Section, which provides a number of services. These include security surveys of buildings, contemporary topics for personal safety, property safety, drug abuse, Rape & Aggression Defense training, and other workshops or training sessions. The crime prevention specialist is available for consulting and is capable of conducting training workshops to fit your needs.
