Each student enrolled in credit courses at UMKC is assigned a Single-Sign-On (SSO) username, which provides access to UMKC e-mail, Pathway, student labs and much more. These accounts are used for official University communications. Students are strongly encouraged to check their e-mail accounts regularly for important announcements and information. Visit the Web site above to setup your password online. You can get additional assistance at any of the IS-managed computer labs or by contacting the UMKC Call Center at 816-235-2000.
Free Anti-virus Software
Free downloads of the McAfee Antivirus software (for Windows and Macintosh operating systems) are available for UMKC students.
Computer Internet Bars
Computer internet bars have been installed in several campus buildings, allowing convenient access to e-mail and other applications.
The primary goal of Classroom Technology Services is to enable academic excellence by developing, implementing, and maintaining environments that empower teaching and learning for the faculty and students at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. A significant emphasis is placed on classroom technology. As a result, many classrooms have been upgraded with instructional technology, including computers, network and laptop connections, video projectors, VCRs and document cameras.
The KnowledgeBase@UMKC is a collection of more than 125,000 technical knowledgebase articles covering more than 200 software titles, including Microsoft, Apple, Adobe, Symantec, and more. Students can access the KnowledgeBase@UMKC from a link on the UMKC Information Services Web site twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.
A wide variety of online and Web-enhanced courses are available at UMKC. These courses are delivered using Blackboard, Wimba, and other instructional technologies for online learning.
Online Problem Reporting
Students can notify Information Services online 24/7 of problems related to UMKC computing resources, including SSO account or lab problems. Someone will address your inquiry within 24 hours during normal business hours (Monday through Friday, 8am – 5pm).

Purchasing Personal Computers

Are you looking for a new computer? UMKC students are eligible for educational discounts on personal computer purchases.
UMKC students may buy popular software programs at an educational discount, under the Microsoft Select Student Option program. Visit the University Bookstore, located in the University Center, or call 816-235-BOOK for more information.
Residence Hall Computers
Computer labs and computer kiosks are located in the Cherry Street and Oak Street Residence Halls as well as in the Oak Place Apartments. High-speed Internet connections are provided for each resident bringing their own computer to the Cherry Street and Oak Street Residence Halls, as well as Oak Place Apartments. Students will want to review the above Web site and get their computer ready to access the UMKC network before bringing their computer to the Residence Halls.
RooTools is a collection of software and instruction sets designed to assist UMKC students, faculty and staff in connecting to UMKC resources, communicating with each other and protecting their personal computers. The software requires Windows XP or Windows Vista.

UMKC recognizes the value of publishing information to the Web and provides space for student personal Web pages.
